Eternally Truthful

One time Yamuna DD said to Srila Prabhupada, "You look so young tonight Srila Prabhupada."
Raising his eyebrows and smiling Srila PRabhupada replied, Oh, someone has told you that I am old?"

What Do You Use a Brahmana Thread For?

One time Srila Prabhupada was doing a public lecture.
After he had been speaking for a few minutes, the microphone fell off the stand. Madhudvisa tried to fix it but couldn't.
Srila Prabhupada asked, "What is the problem?"
"We need a piece of string."
Pointing to Madhudvisa's Brahmin thread, Prabhupada asked, "What is this?"
So Madhudvisa tied the microphone onto the stand with his brahmin thread.

Tulasi-Devi Maharani

One time Srila Prabhupada told us, "Tulasi-devi is a pure devotee of the Lord and should be treated as such." Then he took off his own garland and put it on Tulasi.

The Sage

It was the summer of 1973 in England at Bhaktivedanta Manor. Srila Prabhupada was speaking on Srimad Bhagavatam one morning. He glanced from time to time at Iksvaku Rani who was several months pregnant. She was so effulgent that from time to time you couldn’t even see her face for the light. Finally Srila Prabhupada pointed to her and said, “In your womb is a great sage.” When he was born he was given the name Nirmala Chandra.
Around that time Srila Prabhupada said “Pregnant women shouldn’t dance”
Later when asked “Should I offer my breast milk to Krsna?” Srila Prabhupada laughed and said, “Mother’s milk is always offered.”

The Chaunce

To understand this story you have to understand the structure of the temple at 7 Bury Place in London. Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara were in Their temple room on the ground floor. Below in the basement was the kitchen and prasadam room. Above the temple were Srila Prabhupada’s rooms. On the second floor were the brahamacarinis. Above, on the next floor were the offices and on the top floor were the brahmacaris. There was also an attic reached by a ladder, where Srila Prabhupada’s books were kept.
One day the cook was spicing the dahl for the lunch offering to the Deities and made a particularly fiery chance. As the fumes from the chaunce rose up the stairs, devotees coming down began to cough. As the fiery gasses rose higher and higher more devotees began coughing. When it reached Srila Prabhupada’s rooms, he began to cough and told his servant, “Good Chaunce!” It rose right up to the top floor until everyone in the temple was coughing.
